| INDIRECT Stencil Films |
Autotype Indirect Films
Indirect films offer many benefits to the user, as quite simply they are the fastest and easiest method of producing a high quality stencil for short run screen printing. Indirect films are therefore especially suited for short run small format applications where quality is of paramount importance.
Indirect films are usually categorised by their resolution, i.e. the ability to resolve fine detail. Resolution should not be confused with definition, which is the ability to print a straight line. All gelatine indirect films have very high print definition but can be differentiated by their resolution capabilities. A high resolution product such as Alphastar will resolve virtually everything on the positive, including scratches and dust spots which can lead to lengthy spotting out of the stencil. If very high resolution is not required, it is better to select a lower resolution product such as Five Star or even Greenstar. Due to their applications, indirect films are best suited for use on medium to fine mesh counts i.e. 77/cm - 150/cm. Under these conditions, indirect films create the ideal stencil for high quality printing - a low stencil profile coupled with a very flat stencil surface (low Rz value).
Key qualities of indirect films:
Very fast processing
High quality printing
Short run lengths only - up to 2,000 impressions only
Solvent and UV ink resistant only

Autotype Novaplus is a pre-sensitized photostencil film consisting of a red synthetic emulsion coated onto a 70 micron (0.003”)
polyester base of high dimensional stability. The film requires no chemical hardening solution. It can be processed in either cold
or warm water.
Autotype Novaplus is simple to process and the stencil can be hot air dried when mounted on the screen, to aid rapid screen
production. Autotype Novaplus produces a very flexible tough stencil with excellent solvent resistance, good adhesion to all type
of meshes and excellent exposure latitude. Autotype Novaplus can be used with most solvent based and conventional UV inks.
Autotype Novaplus is sold strictly for use in the screen printing industry as an indirect photo-stencil film. Autotype Novaplus is a
simple and fast processing film intended for general work. It can be used for a wide range of applications from PVC decals and
posters to point of sale.
